The Stag’s Away…

One of the largest paintings I had undertaken, has just sold.  ‘Stag In Water’ was a good challenge for me and I’m thrilled that a lovely person has decided to hang it on their wall!

Twitter Art Exhibition

Just about to pop this mini version of a black Highland Cow painting I did last year, into the post to New York, to take part in the Twitter Art Exhibition. Β All entries have to be a postcard size and it was good fun to scale this one down…mini-moo!

‘Deerhound’

Here’s a noble looking breed of dog which I thought might work well in soft pastel, given its fluffy coat.  I spotted this beauty with her owners in a car park in Ulverston and after a brief chat, they very kindly allowed me to take a few shots of her.  She seemed very used to having her photo taken and posed fabulously!  Hope I’ve done her justice.

The Eyes Have It

With apologies to the UK parliamentary system but sometimes phrases can be twisted slightly to suit a subject.  Certainly the model for this portrait, Tigger, says it all with his eyes.  This was a recent commission to be given as a Christmas gift.  Acrylic on canvas.

Happy New Year!

Well here we are, launching into 2016 when I’ve only just got used to writing ‘2015’.  Where do the months go!

I wonder how many people have made resolutions and have given up on them already?  I hope to stick to at least a couple of mine, which are to try and get my artwork “out there” this year – meaning a more concerted effort to publicise myself (not an easy task if I’m completely honest) and also to paint more often than I have been doing.

The start of the year has been encouraging though, as I recently sold a large canvas of a highland cow (‘Hamish, Standing” – see below) – so with resolutions in place, let’s crack on!!

The Best Way To Give A Dog At Christmas

Although it’s the time of year when impulses take over reasoned thinking, let’s just slow down and make sure that giving a cute little bundle of fun to someone as a Christmas gift is really the right thing to do.

If you still think a pooch is what they would like, why not give them a very well behaved one that doesn’t need walkies or scooping after?!

Here are a few gift ideas, OR you can commission me to paint a beloved four legged friend from your photos, for a truly original gift.

Happy Christmas Everyone πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸŽ„
