What A Summer!

It’s been a scorcher of a Summer here in the UK. Waking up to blue skies, sunshine and warmth day after day has been wonderful and I’ve been busy with art all through the season. Commissions have been very gratefully undertaken, new work has been created for exhibitions, preparations have been carried out for the Herefordshire Arts Week currently taking place in our beautiful village Church venue 17 www.h-art.org.uk and lots of reference photos have been taken to work on even more new pieces!

The weather is cooling, the days are starting to shorten, the leaves are turning to caramel tones and it’s time to get cracking in the studio again! I’ll post some of my new artworks when they’re ready, but in the meantime, here are a few I made earlier (as the saying goes!)

You can get all the latest news and have a chuckle at my paltry attempts to create short videos clicking the links below – even better, why not follow me on www.instagram.com/rosiemarkartwork or www.facebook.com/rosiemarkartwork

Mini Artworks

I’ve been doing a few paintings on small 5” x 7” canvasses recently and enjoying scaling down – the longest side is about the length of a standard pencil. A good excuse to dust off my tiny β€˜000’ brushes. The new smaller sizes mean I can offer a lower price for commissions and sales, yay! That is, as long as the subject will fit on a postcard size format! Here’s a couple of recent examples…

National Pet Day

I think we all need a bit of cheering up now and again in this mad, mixed up world of ours and how better to thank our four (and two) legged friends who always bring a smile and provide unconditional love, than with a day to celebrate them.

Happy National Pet Day!

Dylan

This is Dylan, a commission recently completed for a friend’s birthday of her beloved Springer Spaniel. Β He was great fun to do as he has an amazing rock star hairdo!

Oil on canvas to give a soft, hazy effect.

Those Eyes….

I love painting animal portraits especially when the models have gorgeous eyes, Toby was no exception – beautiful peepers! 🐢❀️

New Year, Fresh Start

Happy New Year!  The start of the year means looking ahead with hope, anticipation and enthusiasm.  2016 was a bit of a tough one for me, so it’s time to move forward and hope 2017 will be better.  I’m sure I’m not the only person feeling this way.

With that in mind, I plan to be more productive with my artwork and also try to get it “out there” in the big wide world.

As Jim Royle once said in Caroline Aherne’s brilliant TV comedy series ‘The Royle Family’, “Those dishes won’t do themselves, Barb” – of course, this will leave you puzzled if you are reading this outside the UK!!  It just means, if you want to get a job done, get on with it.

So without further ado, here are a couple of progress stage & completed paintings I can now reveal, that were commissioned for Christmas gifts, as I sign off for the time being and get cracking on some new work.

The Eyes Have It

With apologies to the UK parliamentary system but sometimes phrases can be twisted slightly to suit a subject.  Certainly the model for this portrait, Tigger, says it all with his eyes.  This was a recent commission to be given as a Christmas gift.  Acrylic on canvas.
